Pearl Tiara
Make your Wedding Day that extra bit special by
handcrafting you own Bridal accessories. Imagine the amazement on your guests faces when
complimenting you on your accessories, being told "I made them all myself".
Not only will you gain the satisfaction of a job well done, you will have a lasting unique
treasure and pounds in your pocket for that extra special honeymoon.
Laine's carry a wide selection of Craft accessories for the D.I.Y. Bride and Bridal Part.
Handcrafting a Bridal Tiara is very quick, economical
and simple. A simple Tiara can be made for less than £5. Once you have made one, you will
want to make them for the Bridesmaids and flower girls as well.
roughly measure the part of your head where the Tiara will be worn.
Add on a couple of inches. This will be about 8-9 inches in length.
Double this plus a little more (about 18-20")
Cut this amount of wire. Fold the length of wire in half.
Twist the wire along its length. This will give you a firm
secure base to apply your sprays.
Make a loop at either end of the wire and twist to secure. This is where your
hairdresser will secure the Tiara to your hair.
Decide on how high you wish the tiara to stand up. If you wish it to be high, you will
have to build up the Pearl Sprays.
To build up Pearl Spray
As in illustration below, twist two sprays around a central spay, which is held at a
height above that of the outer sprays.
Leave plenty of loose wire to wrap round the Tiara band.
Cut off any excess wire once you are happy that the sprays are secure.
Building the Tiara
Always work using odd numbers
Start at the centre of the band and wrap the wire around the Craft Wire.
Ensure that you wrap the wires at 180 degrees to one another along the craft wire.
Keep building outwards from the centre with Pearl Sprays until you have reached
about an inch of the ends. Less if you wish to make a small Head top Tiara.
Cut off excess wire once you are happy the sprays are secure.
Any unsightly wire can be hidden by binding with floral tape.
Adding Rose Buds
To add the optional Rose Buds, twist the wires around the base of the rose between
the bud and leaves.
Secure the Spray to the Craft Wire directly below the Rose Bud.
Add contrast by adding Crystal Sprays.
Customization:
You can customize the pearl sprays by adding coloured beads to the existing spray.
Try making your own Spays with thin gold or silver colour craft wire and coloured
Beads.
