Colour Co-ordinated Chiffon Pouches or Favour Bags
|

|
|
Favours or Bombonirere are traditionally
the way for the Bride and Groom to say Thank you to the Bridal Party as
well as their guests for being part of their Special Day. Making your own
favours or Bombonirere simply makes your gift that extra bit special, as
well as giving you, the Bridal Couple the satisfaction of saying " I
made them myself ", with the added bonus of controlling costs. |

Objectives:
For this project I wanted to make the Chiffon Pouches
match the dominant colour of the Bridal Outfit. The Chiffon bags have a
natural sparkle, however I wanted to add an extra dimension by adding a
gold colouring. I mixed together Pebeo Setasilk Violet with Pebeo
Setacolor Gold. Pebeo Setasilk is specially formulated for use on silks,
and coloured the chiffon perfectly with no blotching or hardening. The
colour runs quickly over the fabric, making a little paint go a long way.
The Setasilk Gold is a more solid colour and does require the dragging of
the paint brush over the surface of the chiffon to apply. This dragging
gave a very subtle gold flecking to the bags.
 | Method:
 | Construct a Drying Tree for your Pouches.
 | I put a piece of Floral Foam in a flowerpot
and stuck in several garden canes. Use a clay pot to prevent
the tree falling over |
|
 | The Chiffon Pouches have a draw string. If you do
not wish to colour the drawstring, you will have to remove it:
 | Undo the knot at one end by picking at the
Knot with a pin. |
 | Withdraw the draw string. |
|
 | Mix together the Pebeo Setasilk Violet and the
Pebeo Setasilk Gold. |
 | While wearing your disposable rubber glove, slip
two or three fingers inside the Chiffon bag. |
 | Dip the brush into the pain, and apply the paint
to the bag.
 | If you are only using Setasilk paint the
colour will run quickly over the bag after several dabs of
paint are applied. |
 | If using the combined Setacolor and Setasilk,
you will have to apply the paint with an up and down motion
along the bag to ensure the gold colouring is applied to the
chiffon. |
|
 | Hang your completed Chiffon Pouch on your drying
tree and allow to dry. |
|
|
 |
|

|
 | Completion:
 | If you withdrew the Drawstring, this will have to
be re-inserted using a tiny safety pin and tying of the end again
(rather difficult )
 | easier to colour the string along with the
bag. |
 | Insert a new piece of narrow ribbon and tie
off in a bow. |
|
 | Decorate the bag with Ribbon Roses or Rosettes
etc. |
 | Why not Colour Co-ordinate your Ribbon Roses. |
 | For this project I included two Yankee Candle
Scented Tea-lights in each bag, allowing the recipient to either
light the tea-lights and keep the bag, or use the bag and contents
as a wonderful drawer or cupboard freshener. |
|
|
 | Make a Tartan Ribbon Rosette
 | Cut a 0.25 metre length of Ribbon. |
 | Thread a needle with 0.5 metre of thread |
 | Run a stitch down one edge of the ribbon |
 | Holding both ends of the thread, carefully pull
in the ribbon |
 | Stitch the back of the rosette to hold |
 | Stitch on any additions such as a ribbon rose
etc. |
