Floral Keepsake

bulletRequirements
bulletPiece of plywood or cork mat. I used an old table placemat, about 10"x8"
bulletPlastic inner from an Easter egg box(the dome shape must be smaller than the cork mat).
bulletCotton or felt material aprox 12"x10", or enough to cover the mat with a generous overlap.
bulletA good craft glue. I use Fast Tack.
bulletPiece of card.
bulletRibbon
bulletFlorist wire and tape (optional).
bulletArtificial or dried flowers. You could use dried pressed flowers for a 3D effect.

bulletMethod
bulletPlace the material face down on a flat surface.
bulletplace the cork mat down in the centre of the material.
bulletapply a liberal amount of glue to the back of the mat along one side about 1/2 in inch in from the edge. Alternatively use double sided tape. If using double sided tape. Apply lengths along each edge.
bulletFold back the material overlap over the glue and allow to dry.
bulletOnce dry apply glue to the mat along the opposite length.
bulletFirmly pull the material to make tight and fold down over the glue or tape.
bulletHold firmly with a clothes peg until dry.
bulletOnce dry repeat this process along the two remaining edges.
bulletArrange your flower display, ensuring it will fit within the dome of the egg shape.
bulletTape or bind the flower stems, and hide with a bow etc.
bulletPlace a sticky fixer on the back of the flower display and stick the display carefully in the centre of the board.
bulletCut around the base of the egg shaped dome, leaving a small boarder to enable glue to adhere.
bulletApply a light coating of PVA glue to the rim and gently place over the flower arrangement, ensuring that the boarder distance is equal on opposite sides. (Your PVA glue will dry clear.)
bulletOnce dry, cut a piece of card or material just smaller than the size of the mat and stick down on the back to cover the overlapping material.
bulletApply a hanging hook to the back.
bulletHints and Tips
bulletYou could use a fresh corsage from an event or wedding.
bulletLet it dry naturally in a bed of Silica Gel first.
bulletA quicker easier result can be obtained by using double sided tape rather than glue to fasten the material.
bulletThis project is ideal for younger children, however a little help and supervision is required.
