Stencilling and other crafting applications |
 | Inks and dye have a variety of applications in
crafting. Unlike most applications where quick drying is essential,
generally crafters require inks and dyes that dry slowly to enable
them to be used as a base for applying other crafting materials. This
is no more so important than in rubber stamp embossing. where the
crafter or card maker requires the inks or dyes to remain most long
enough to allow embossing powers to adhere, before being heated with a
hot air tool. We have gathered together a variety of ink and dye pads

| Dye inks are usually water based, acid free
permanent, waterproof drying rapidly on most surfaces, including glossy
coated papers |
Pigment inks provide good colour saturation
leaving crisp clear impressions. They are acid free and resistant to
fading. |
| Dye ink pads have characteristics that make
them ideal for applications such as watercolours, as the dyes are
permanent and will not run. As the ink dries it will fade leaving a muted
soft effect. Dye inks also tend to feather on standard types of card. Dye
inks are ideal for embossing on coated surfaces or acetate. Solvent based
pads are available in a limited range of colours but will dry on acetate
and gloss card without the aid of a heat gun. |
Pigment inks work best on non glossy surfaces.
Pigment ink sits on the surface of card rather than soaking into it like a
dye. this makes it ideal for embossing on card. Pigment ink will not dry
on acetate or glossy surfaces unless embossed and dried with a heating
tool. Pigment inks are available in a wide variety of colours, including
metallic such as the Gold, Silver, Copper and Bronze of the Varsacolor™
