How to Emboss using the ShapeBoss™ embossing system
Requirements
Fiskars® ShapeBoss™ Tray
Dual Tip Stylus embossing Tool
Paper or Card (cardstock Number 65 is
reccommended)
Setting up the Tray for use.
Place the stencil labelled "BOTTOM" on
the the system tray (the bottom stencil is grey)
Place the stencil labelled "TOP" over
the bottom stencil taking care t match all parts of the design.
The top stencil is clear and gridded.
Insert two retainer pegs in opposite top corners
to secure both stencils.
Positioning the paper or card
Slide paper or card between the two stencils
Positioning your paper or card to the design that
you wish to emboss.
If necessary add or reposition retainer pegs to
secure the stencils while accommodating the paper or card.
IMPORTANT
THE PART OF THE PAPER TO BE
RAISED SHOULD BE FACE DOWN. WHEN FLIPPED OVER THE EMBOSSED
DESIGN WILL BE REVERSED.
Embossing
Chose the stylus tip with the largest size ball
burnishing tip that will fit the stencil design
Apply consistent downward pressure to outline the
stencil design with the stylus. There is now need to rub in the
middle.
For crisper edges, trace around two or more
times.
remove your paper or card from between the
stencils.
Flip the paper over to view your beautiful
design.
Tips & Techniques
If the burnishing stylus tip does not glide
easily over your cardstock or paper, rub the area with waxed paper
or with your hand before embossing. This will help smooth the
paper and simplify the task
For best results use a cardstock 65 or heavier.
Also try using thin metals, foils and vellums.
The Tray fits a 8.5 inch x 11 inch sheet, however
any size of sheet may be embossed by repositioning the retainer
pegs as you proceed
When embossing letters and patterns. remember
they will appear backwards while embossing. When flipped the
embossed design will read correctly.
